With the economy going down, jobs and retirement becoming more and more insecure, thousands of people around the globe are all jumping in Network Marketing with great anticipation. But the question is- Is networking the right business for you? Are you on the fence about starting your own business? Or do you need some very good reasons to convince skeptical friends? Let me share my 2 cents on this issue.
- Network Marketing is a Ready-to-start Business – And a good one too. The direct selling industry accounts for at least $100 Billion in world revenue, and is expected to grow by 13% until 2018. So imagine what it would be like to get even .01% share of that money. But potential income is only half the equation.
Consider all the elements you need to bring together to start up a traditional business:

Pretty daunting, isn’t it?
In network marketing, you do away with having employees, advertising and location. Legal issues and responsibilities are handle by the company. - Network Marketing provides Leveraged Income – When you have a regular job or profession—doesn’t matter if you’re a janitor or a CEO—you have what’s known as linear income or Earned Income. You don’t need an MBA, you don’t need to have a degree. You just need to be willing to learn. This is where most people ignore this business… because they have been brain washed and simply conform to following the crowd.

How many people will you eventually get to know in a few years time?

1. Lack of Team Spirit
If you lack team spirit, how do you expect to succeed in this industry? The very core of network marketing is to network amongst your team while working cohesively towards the same vision. Network Marketing is the act of bringing together a group of people for a mutual benefit. It generally answers the question “How can I help?” rather than “What can you do for me?”!
Entrepreneurs are NEVER solo players, people with an employee mindset and a small business (or sole proprietorship mindset) are and that’s why they never enjoy passive incomes. Entrepreneurs and Network marketers are TEAM players. They know and understand what the word “Leverage” means.
Having a team that you communicate with regularly helps you gain new and fresh ideas about the business and holds you accountable to staying plugged in with the daily activities that will get you closer to your goals, this is the one of the beauties and benefits of joining a Network Marketing business.
By communicating with your organization, you’re not only creating the opportunity to inspire your own team; you’re also developing meaningful and valuable relationships with them.
To avoid this common mistake, conduct a weekly group meeting with your team and use this time to assess each other’s performance, provide feedback, give suggestions, and share insights in improving your group’s overall productivity. Create a Skype group and mastermind together. You will be amazed how this will boost your business.
2. Lack of Focus in the Industry (a.k.a Jumpers)
Most people are switching from one company to another in hopes of landing that one business that will make them rich instantly. Instead of focusing on a single company, they chose to diversify and put all their resources to waste by diverting their attention multiple different ways.
Most people confuse Multiple Sources/Streams of Income a.k.a MSIs as belonging to different MLM companies all at once…. Nothing could be more farther from the truth.
True leverage income and MSIs can mostly be achieved within the same organization you are promoting by simply creating/joining a team with a marketing system that will help retail information products and self development audios and videos courses that you know will help your team mates grow mentally as business owners in YOUR organization. (make sure you understand that).
When a system like this is built, each sponsor can count on multiple sources of income streams coming from their team mates who purchase those info products and when their team mates bring people to system can count on their team doing same as well (Note: this is aside the company bonuses for bringing a new distributor to the company. This is why joining the right team with the right systems is crucial for your success)
Also most businesses take 2-3 years to build successfully, so make a time commitment to give it all you got during that time. If for any reason, you see that you’re giving 100% but changes or flaws in the company have altered your vision for reaching your goals, only then should you begin considering changing over to a new company, where you can be 100% focused again.
3. Disregarding Personal Development (Your Biggest Mistake)
Personal Development is the first step that you must invest in to accomplish success in building your mindset. Although you will be given tons of training, tools and mentors, your success relies in your ability to have the right mindset. You do this by investing in yourself because YOU are the most important factor in your business. Always remember that your business will only grow as much as you do.
Personal Development is a highly encouraged practice that is enforced on every individual who joins the industry. From the team meetings, to business presentations, to listening to audio tapes from leaders, you’ll find that Personal Development is the foundation for which nearly all Network Marketing companies are built. Spend a great deal of your time constantly feeding yourself with positive reinforcement and surround yourself with successful and motivated people.
5. Be Careful of Negative responses From Your Warm Market
Do you know that our warm market can be our worst enemy? Before we proceed to the cold market, it is common practice to share what we know and what we have with the people closest to us, which is generally family and old friends.
Experiencing rejection directly from the very people whom we least expect can be very hard to accept. Not only does it kill the enthusiasm, the negative reaction can also create self-doubt—especially for beginners. So rather than approaching friends and family, i recommend learning how to market and present your business online to people already searching for what you are doing.
